Since it was announced that the fourth Divergent movie might be proceeding straight to tv, fans have speculated concerning whether or not the original cast – including star Shailene Woodley – would be making an appearance. In the end, this is a significant change for the series, considering that the first three adaptations of the dystopian series were major big-screen blockbusters.
Over the summertime, Miles Teller expressed that the cast signed onto the project with the knowing that it might be a theatrical release, and Shailene agreed, stating, “I didn’t sign up to be in a TV show.”
Now it appears like it’s public: Shailene will not be in the fourth film, titled Ascendant. She spoke about the movie with Vanity Fair, and informed them flat-out, “No. I’m not going to be on the tv show.”
At this time, the other stars haven’t confirmed whether they will be appearing in the film, but judging from Miles’s responses over the summertime, it appears like each of them might be on a single page. Obviously, this begs the question: What will the Divergent series be like without the Tris we’ve gotten to know over the past three films?! It will certainly never be the same.
